Vimal is a consultant in neonatal medicine at the level 3 neonatal unit in Ashford. He completed his neonatal training in Bristol, South Wales and London. He completed his MD at the University of London in the field of neonatal nutrition and MR imaging. More recently has completed an LLM in healthcare law and ethics. His interests include healthcare law & ethics, telomere biology, neonatal nutrition, neonatal data, and neonatal care in low resource settings. He is an honorary senior lecturer at the School of Biosciences, University of Kent. He represents the UK neonatal collaborative on the neonatal data analysis unit steering board.

Talk Summary

This talk will focus upon the importance of involving families in decisions regarding the care of their baby and parental and professional views on information disclosure. It will also cover key UK legal considerations that are relevant, but have not yet been tested in neonatal medicine and the key principles of the recently published BAPM framework: enhancing shared decision making in neonatal care.
