Consultant Neonatologist

Vennila Ponnusamy joined as a Consultant Neonatologist at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey in 2014. She has a strong interest in education, research and quality improvement. In 2015, she set up a multi-disciplinary in-house simulation (In-STEP) team to promote education and improve practice. She has led a number of successful QIPs including optimal cord management, routine use of videolaryngoscopy and improved two-year neurodevelopmental follow-ups for high-risk neonates at St Peter’s Hospital. Aside from her NHS work, she is studying for her PhD on the role of microRNAs in neonatal hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy at QMUL university, London.
