MB works currently as the Head of Department of Neonatology at the National University Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is a specialist in paediatrics and an expert in neonatology. Main clinical, research and organisational interests are focused on the immediate stabilisation and resuscitation of the newborn infant, as well as acute interfacility transport. He is the primary inventor of a thermal shield for the newborn infant, a product being marketed in more than 45 countries around the world. He has recently worked as Head of the patientflow “very preterm infants” at Karolinska, Stockholm, but has now returned to Copenhagen as Head of the Department of Neonatology, a level IV NICU providing all kinds of highly specialised treatment to newborn infants, including ECMO for children up to 2 years of age.
