Samir Gupta is Professor of Neonatology at University of Durham, United Kingdom. He is Medical director for Research and Senior consultant in Neonatology & Lead for Neonatal Hemodynamics and Transitional physiology program at Sidra Medicine, Qatar. He is Honorary Fellow at NPEU, University of Oxford, UK.

He is a Fellow of Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and Fellow of Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.  His research interests include Neonatal Haemodynamics and Advanced respiratory support in newborn babies. He served as Director of Research & Development for 8 years and lead the pilot projects – ‘Teesside research alliance’ and ‘NHS-Synexus partnership’ in North East UK. He is member of European steering group of the Neonatologist Performed Echocardiography (NPE) and Member of European Scientific Committee for Neonatal Resuscitation (ESCNR). He is founder of the scientific group “Neonatologist with interest in Cardiology & Haemodynamics (NiCHE), UK” and has contributed to training and accreditation guidelines for Neonatologist performed echocardiography for UK and Europe. He has established the Hemodynamic program and Neonatal functional echocardiography training at Sidra medicine in Qatar.

He is a member of several scientific organisations, including the European Society for Paediatric Research (ESPR) and Society for Paediatric Research (USA). He is reviewer for many peer reviewed journals and National Institute for Health & Research (NIHR). He has been invited speaker at more than 100 national and international meetings, and has extensively published in peer-reviewed journals and books. He is Chief investigator for NIHR-HTA funded Baby-OSCAR multicentre trial in the UK to evaluate early targeted treatment of PDA. He is founder and conference director of Annual international NeoCard-UK conference (Neonatal Cardiology & Haemodynamics conference).
